Isamaya Beauty Photo Dump
Last week I shared the details of my trip to the Isamaya Beauty 3-day pop-up in my newsletter, but I didn’t get to share the shots I took of the two products I bought from her debut collection, Industry. I’m still really torn over the palette but the £95 price tag is just a bit much. However, I think I’m also torn because I know she’s got another drop coming in October. Isamaya shared in a recent interview with Fat Mascara that she will be launching four drops per year, kind of like a fashion designer would. I think that makes so much sense and could ensure that she always stays innovative, relevant and as sustainable as possible.
If you don’t know Isamaya’s work yet, I’ve always thought of her as a breath of fresh air; someone who isn’t obsessed with making herself pretty, and instead sees beauty as something that can be many things, all at once. Prior to launching her own makeup line she launched fragrance brand Byredo’s first foray into makeup, and also worked with Burberry as well as creating looks at major fashion shows. The pop-up itself had strong BDSM vibes with slight hints of movies such as Alien and Blade Runner too. My friend Keisha and I loved it; we’re both into a darker aesthetic and it just felt good to see something that wasn’t pink, ‘that girl’ or ‘summer vibez’.
Let me know if you’re planning on buying anything from this collection! I can strongly vouch for the Rubberlash Latex Lift Mascara - brilliant for curling lashes up and adding length - and the amazing Lip Lacq Maximizing Lip Serum in Black Veil; it’s this really shimmering, sheer, dark coloured gloss that seems to work well on any lip colour and can transform any lipstick. It also promises to plump lips thanks to a blend of fruit extracts, Hyaluronic Acid and ginger oil for an instant volumizing effect. Really intrigued to see what’s next! Below are some shots I took of the beautiful Maya and Rue who were modelling throughout the pop-up.
