Easy brown eyes makeup with just 2 products
I don’t know about you, but I’ve always thought of brown as well, a kind of boring shade. My hair colour is dark brown AKA blah in my book. I’ve always wanted jet black hair, but due to my yellow undertones it’s pretty much not advisable. So, you could say I’ve got something against the colour brown. However, recently I watched a Violette_fr YouTube video in which she focused on browns. I thought it was unusual because she also has brown eyes, but her approach to colour is that each and every one should be celebrated, and played with. So these images are the result of me just playing around.
#1 Start with eyeliner
Once you’ve applied as much, or as little, base as you want, make sure you’ve applied a little to your eyelids. Fix it with a touch of translucent powder, and then, using a brown metallic eyeliner, draw a solid winged line across your top lashes, from the inner corner, extending slightly past the outer corner. I used Kiko Milano Intense Colour Long Lasting Eyeliner in 04. The line doesn’t have to be perfect - think of it as an anchor for you to attach the eyeshadow to. Next, you’re going to buff out that line with the tip of your index finger. If you prefer to use a brush, feel free - I just like how the warmth of my finger warms up the pigment slightly, as it helps with blending it out. Once you’ve blended it out, you should still see the shape of the wing that you made with the liner.
#2 Matte eyeshadow
When I saw Kiko Milano’s Smart Colour Eyeshadow in 04, I immediately thought of cocoa. It literally looks like someone scooped it out of a tin of hot chocolate powder. It’s lovely, matte and intense. I used a blending brush to apply the shadow to cover the entire eyelid, making sure it ‘filled in’ the winged shape that had been left behind by the eyeliner. I then applied another layer of the eyeshadow and then spent some time carefully blending it out, just to soften the edges. The look is still quite graphic but it’s ultra soft.
#3 Finishing touches
I took the eyeliner and applied inside and along my lower lashes, then blended it out. I then took a little of the eyeshadow on the same brush, and looking up, blended it into my lower lashes, being sure to link it to the winged outer corner. Then I finished the look with my usual three coats of mascara. I used L’Oréal Paradise Extatic for this look, as it has a nice, fat brush that gives you thick, chunky lashes.
#4 Next level
So I was just about ready to wash the whole thing off, but for some reason I wanted to glow things up a little. Within a couple of minutes I added a swipe of Topshop Glow Pot in Polished - I don’t know if they make it anymore but it used to constantly sell out, and for good reason! I used it just on my cheekbones. Then I used Fenty Beauty Killawatt in Ginger Binge on the centre of my eyelids - two coats to really add a good dose of colour. To finish I topped off my lips - originally Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Amoureux, a delicate, matte baby pink - with Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow. I LOVED how these quick little additions gave me a completely different look. What do you think?
