5 things I'm loving right now

Today I had plans, so many plans! One of them of course was to get my weekly blog up. But between having a super stiff neck and the light being so dark outside, I can’t get my beauty shoot done. However, I still really wanted to blog, and I wanted to blog about things I’m loving right now. I feel that, at this time of year it’s so easy to slip down into a bit of a funk. The year’s almost done, you might be feeling like you haven’t achieved EVERYTHING, plus it’s that time where we often feel a little flu-ey or just blah. This blog is just a little celebration of things I love. Hope some of them resonate with you!

Makeup artists on YouTube
Right now I am LOVING the quality of makeup artist content on YouTube. When I say quality I don’t necessarily mean the video quality, but the quality of the looks people like Tatiana Rose Art, Violette FR and Lisa Eldridge are serving, as well as  - when it comes to the likes of Jackie Aina – the entertainment factor! There’s not much I can say apart from the fact that, when Jackie does her makeup, she takes you along for the ride and you feel like you’re having just as much fun as she is!

Baking
My name is Charisse and I love to bake. There, I said it. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know from my Instagram Stories that I bake every week, sometimes twice, and I love it. I’ve always had a sweet tooth, but now I’m able to make my own bakes and know exactly what’s in them. Surprisingly, this hasn’t meant that I end up eating the whole thing; often I’ll take cakes to our neighbours, or to my folks. Who doesn’t like cake?

Photoshop tutorials
While I’m enjoying them, I’m definitely not excelling at them, but I figure, if I try every day, eventually I’ll get it right, right? Please let me know if you know of any cool tutorials I can check out. Next month I’m booked in for a video production course, so I’m hoping the more technical my creative brain can become, the better I’ll be able to serve my clients, and my own projects, whether in photography or videography.

The Naked Beauty Podcast
Although I’ve been following Brooke Devard’s Naked Beauty Planet Instagram account for a while, I only started checking out her podcasts a couple of months ago. For me, this podcast is the perfect blend of chat and information. The guests vary but you always learn something. I can’t lie; since I started listening to Brooke’s podcast, it’s made me even more nervous about launching my own. I have three interviews just sitting there and I’m nervous as hell! Brooke’s tone is polished, authoritative, warm and friendly and I really hope to interview her next time I’m in New York. Check out her latest podcast with The Receipts podcast host Tolly from Essex – I guarantee it will make you laugh!

Red lipstick
If you know me you’re probably rolling your eyes like, ‘uh yeah Charisse, we know you love a red lip – how ‘bout you try something different for a change…’
But seriously, on days like today, sometimes, just sometimes, throwing on a red lip can make you feel ready – or at least appear ready, to take on anything.

What’s making you smile right now?
