My favourite face masks - right now

I love a face mask. As in, at least three nights out of seven, I’m wearing a face mask. It might be a cheap sheet mask I’ve picked up from Boots in a 3 for 2 - LOVE the Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue Mask range! - or it could be a generous coating of my favourite overnight mask; lately, Lancôme’s Hydra Zen Jelly Mask. Either way, I’ve learned that masks are great for a quick hydration boost, but also perform a valuable task in my regular skincare regime. As I no longer use physical exfoliants, masks are perfect for nourishing my skin, but also allow me to do some gentle exfoliation by removing them with a soft face cloth soaked in warm water.

Recently I added two newbies to my face mask gang. Actually, the first one isn’t really a newbie, but I’ve left it alone for a while - until now. Trilogy’s Mineral Radiance Mask was one of the first masks that really proved to me that a mask can do something visible. When I first got hooked it was an instant repeat purchase whenever I spotted it was running low. However, as with most skincare addicts, I thought there might be something better out there. So I tried the Caudalie Instant Detox Mask (ultra uncomfortable on my skin although it definitely does its job), and also fell for Sukin’s Super Greens Masque - so affordable, with amazing results. Recently I used up my last dose of Sukin so I thought, let’s go back to my tried and true. This might be my fifth time around with the Trilogy Mask but I don’t think I’ll be taking it out of circulation again. Minutes after application your skin literally glows and feels so smooth - and the day after, you can still see and feel the results. With Kaolin (essential in any clay mask), Rosehip and Evening Primrose - both super hydrating and nourishing for the skin - it promises to tone and smooth and leave skin radiant.

The real newbie is the Elemis Peptide⁴ Thousand Flower Mask. I first heard about it on makeup artist Katie Jane Hughe’s Instagram Stories - if you’re not following her and her stories you are MISSING OUT. Not only does she share some amazing makeup tips but her skin is the ONE. She’s glowing and is constantly working on improving, enhancing and magnifying that glow.
The mask itself really reminds me of another product but I can’t think what it is, annoyingly. It’s a very soft, velvety consistency but has some texture to it. Here’s what the Elemis website says:

“The secret's in the soil. This cooling, velvety mousse mask contains Nordic Peat, developed over thousands of years, which is rich in minerals, vitamins, and antioxidants, to help improve skin radiance, and revitalise dull, lackluster skin.”

So far, it’s definitely living up to its claims. I used it a week after having a peel as I felt my skin needed some love and attention. Of course it could be the after-effects of the peel itself, but my skin feels softer and plumper. Formulated for all skin types, the mask aims to restore essential moisture and give you healthy-looking, well-rested skin. Just don’t use your favourite white face cloths with this one - it’s black and comes with a stain warning.
