#Review: Trilogy Mineral Radiance Mask

First up, I have to say, that if Wah founder Sharmadean Reid hadn't posted about this product on her Instagram, it's highly likely that I might never have bought it. But I'm so glad she did.

This is my new go-to at least twice a week.

A couple of months back I got to see Sharmadean in the flesh (I've admired her for so long, so I had to hold in the urge to fan girl) and I was literally floored by her skin. I've no clue if she had any foundation or any makeup at all on, but she had the most beautiful, smooth, radiant face I've seen in a while. From time to time she shares her love for beauty products that work, so when she credited this mask with making her 'glow some type of way', it was a case of, if she rates it, I need to try it.

Another reason for trying this mask, is because, over the past few months, I've tried to make more time for my skin. Despite working as a beauty journalist for over 10 years, and literally being surrounded by various masks and serums, it's easy for me to neglect my own needs. Reading that back, I realise that this excuse is a load of nonsense really - a mask takes mere seconds to apply, then all you have to do is sit back and watch Netflix for the required amount of time that the product needs to work its magic. So I ordered myself a pot from lookfantastic.com, and two days later when it arrived I got down to business. The pot itself looks pretty small (60ml), so if you're a greedy dipper, you might feel a bit concerned that it won't last long, but you needn't be. When you feel the silky texture of this mask, you'll realise you don't need a lot. My immediate reaction was that I had never seen such a creamy smooth clay-based mask before. I'm a big fan of making my own Bentonite Clay masks at home and usually make them on the thicker side - which means they make a hell of a mess when they begin to crack up - but thanks to the emollient properties of rosehip and evening primrose oils, the texture of this kaolin clay mask is much more 'spreadable'. The colour is vaguely mauve-y grey, and while it lightens and tightens ever so slightly as it dries, this is definitely a mask that you can hold a conversation in - actually I had an argument in mine...

You don't need to use a lot to see results.

There's no time limit on the jar; instead it just says to apply and rinse off once dry. I tend to just apply it, do some work or chores, then rinse it off when I remember. The result is just the softest skin that I have ever had - it's like a powdery baby soft feeling, and it also definitely leaves a glow behind. I now try to use it twice a week and would highly recommend it for anyone that loves to clarify their skin, but gets nervous about drying it out or leaving it sensitised. I never go without SPF, but on a morning after I've applied this  - or any other mask for that matter - I will probably up the SPF level slightly - to ensure that my newly cleansed skin isn't damaged.

While my skin will likely never be as lush as Sharmadean's, the Trilogy Mineral Radiance Mask is absolutely going to be in my regime for a long time to come.
