My super-quick self-care routine

I wanted to do a quickie blog - for once - and this week I'm sharing my absolute favourite way to relax, when I need an instant dose of calm. As I've already travelled to two cities this month, and am prepping for a third, I'm taking my self-care time very seriously!

For me, nothing signals the end of a long day, or week, like some extra time in the shower with my favourite products. If I'm travelling, I'll definitely choose a bath over a shower Any Day Of The Week, but while I'm at home, I make sure that the products I take into the shower are going to do my mind, as well as my body, good.

Most days I stick with very plain, very reliable Sanex as it's ultra gentle on my skin, but sometimes I need my shower gel to put in work. First up, I make sure the shower's turned up as high as it will go (which to be fair, in our current situation, isn't that high), and leave it to create some steam for a couple of minutes. Next I grab my Rituals The Ritual of Hammam Ultra Hydrating Black Soap. Unlike most black soaps, this one comes in a handy, squeezable tube. If you've ever had a hammam, you'll know that the focus is on getting rid of dead skin, and nourishing what's left behind, often using scrubs and divine scented oils. The entire range of The Ritual of Hammam is fragranced with Eucalyptus and that's what takes my shower time to a whole other level. As soon as I begin rubbing the Black Soap into my skin, the eucalyptus infuses the entire bathroom, clearing my head, purifying my skin and easing my muscles.

The soap is recommended as a pre-exfoliating product as it gives such a deep clean, but most of the time I go straight to another product from the range: the Refreshing Foaming Shower Gel. A little goes a very long way, and within seconds you'll either feel ready for bed, or ready to take on the world. The shower gel has rosemary in it, as well as eucalyptus, so it's seriously revitalising, but not in a typical lemony, zesty way.

Once I've dragged myself out of the shower, I slather the Hammam Body Cream (not shown) over my still damp skin, and then just climb into bed. The fragrance is so soothing, it makes falling asleep a breeze.
